Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

RILIO ("we", "our", "us") is a mobile application that lets creators record personal video stories, invite participants to add video reflections, and receive an AI-edited final video. The app is developed by Yaron Ben Menachem.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through the RILIO mobile app (iOS and Android) and our web services at rilio.io, how we use it, and what choices you have.

By using RILIO you agree to this policy.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Data (Creators)

When you create an account as a story creator, we collect:

• Email address
• Display name
• Firebase Authentication UID (a pseudonymous identifier)
• Expo push notification token (when you approve notifications)

2.2 Story & Media Data

• Video recordings you upload as the story creator
• Video clips recorded by participants (players)
• Audio instruction recordings you create
• AI-generated music tracks and final edited videos
• Story metadata: title, format, instructions, privacy settings, status

2.3 Invitation Data

When you invite someone to participate in your story by phone number, we store that phone number in association with your story invitation record.

2.4 Usage Analytics

We collect anonymous usage events to understand how the app is used. Events include: app open, story created, recording started, clip submitted, invite sent, final video ready, movie watched, share clicked.

Each event is tagged with your Firebase Authentication UID (pseudonymous), app version, platform (iOS/Android), and timestamp. This data is stored in our Firestore database.

2.5 Technical Data

• Device platform and app version (attached to analytics events)
• Temporary files created during video processing (deleted within 2 hours)

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide the service — creating and managing stories, enabling participants to record clips, processing and delivering final edited videos.
• To send notifications — push notifications to story creators when participants upload clips (only if you approved notifications).
• To improve the app — aggregate usage analytics help us understand which features are used and where the experience can be improved.
• To process video — your video files are sent to our processing server (hosted on Render.com) for conversion, mixing, and AI editing.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We only share data with these services to the extent necessary to provide RILIO's features.

5. Data Retention

• Stories & videos — retained until the story creator deletes the story or their account.
• User profile — retained until account deletion.
• Analytics events — retained indefinitely in aggregated form for product analysis. No personally identifiable information beyond a pseudonymous UID.
• Temporary processing files — automatically deleted from our server within 2 hours of creation.
• Push notification tokens — retained until account deletion or until the token is updated by a new login.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data (see Section 7 below).
• Portability — request your data in a portable format.
• Objection — object to certain uses of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in Section 11, or use the in-app account deletion feature.

7. Account & Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app:

1. Open the app and go to Settings.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap מחק חשבון (Delete Account).
3. Confirm the deletion in the dialog.

Deletion permanently removes:

• Your Firebase Authentication account
• Your Firestore user profile
• All stories you created and their associated video files
• All participant clips and reflections belonging to your stories
• Invitations and applications linked to your stories

If you prefer to request deletion by email, contact us at the address in Section 11. We will complete your request within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

RILIO is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Firebase Security Rules to restrict Firestore and Storage access
• Firebase Authentication for user identity verification
• Server-side token verification for all sensitive operations

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email.

Continued use of RILIO after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
